Deborah J. Steffy, 54, of Leesport, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 18, 2016 in her residence. She was the wife of Prent L. Steffy. They were married on June 28, 1980 and celebrated thirty-five years of marriage.
Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of Marvin Gechter, Mt. Penn; and Grace (Fierro) Murray, Leesport. She was a 1979 graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School, where she also attended Vo-Tech. Deborah worked as a pharmacy technician for Redner's Pharmacy, Leesport. She was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perry Twp. Deborah loved being a grandmother and taking care of her grandson.
Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are two daughters: Christina J. Steffy, wife of David J. Reimer, Sr., Leesport; and Carissa J. Steffy, and her significant other: Zach Burns, Reading; one grandson: Harvey S. Burns; one step-granddaughter: Marcella A. Hennick, and her husband Ross; and two step-great-granddaughters: Elsa Hennick and Madison Hennick. Deborah is also survived by two sisters: Karen M. Brown; wife of Paul Brown; and Mary L. Clark, wife of Russell Clark, both of Leesport; one niece: Kasandra; three nephews: Dylan, Derick and wife Amanda, and Nicholas; and two great-nieces: Miah and McKenzie.
Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Topton Union Cemetery.
