Yourkawitch
September 11, 1948 – June 29, 2025
David A. Yourkawitch, 76 of Richmond Twp., passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025 in his residence. He was the husband of Susan M. (Hollinger) Yourkawitch. They were married August 28, 1971 and celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Anthony and Leah (Einsig) Yourkawitch. He graduated from Fleetwood High School and then attended two years of college. David was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. David worked with the United States Postal Service, first as a clerk in Reading, moving up to be director of Human Resources at Lehigh Valley Post Office and eventually becoming Postmaster in Macungie. He worked for the postal service for a total of 34 years before retiring. He and his wife owned and operated Susan and David's Antique Shop in Kirbyville for a few years. He was a member of the Fleetwood American Legion and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing poker. He also enjoyed his fly fishing and "bush" trips to Canada. David was an avid fan of music, especially the Beatles. He was a charismatic, animated man with a quick wit and raw sense of humor. His generosity knew no bounds. He was a grillmaster and professional party thrower, offering food and caring to all who graced his life.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son: Adam J. Yourkawitch, Bern Twp.; two daughters: Beth A. (Yourkawitch) Neff, wife of Brant, Allentown, and Julie M. (Yourkawitch) Wall, Fleetwood; six grandchildren: Noah, Benjamin, Skye, James, Jake, and Marc; two sisters: Susan M. Yourkawitch, Topton, and Rosalie (Yourkawitch) Lorah, North Carolina; and a daughter in law: Michelle (Madenford) Yourkawitch. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons: Matthew R. Yourkawitch, and David A. Yourkawitch, Jr.; and a brother: Michael Yourkawitch.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
