David I. Martin, 77, of Hamburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Donna M. (Hirst) Martin, who passed away on December 7, 2024.

Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late William W. and Esther A. (Seip) Martin.

David was a 1967 graduate of Hamburg Area High School. He continued his education at Kutztown University, where he earned his master's degree. He was employed as an advanced English teacher at Wyomissing Area High School for 30 years until his retirement.

David had a passion for education and the performing arts. He enjoyed directing school plays and was also an ordained minister, having completed his theological studies in Lancaster. In his spare time, David was an avid reader, a Civil War history buff, and an enthusiastic fan of the Beatles and Pittsburgh Pirates.

David is survived by his sister, Ruth E. (Martin) Bensinger, Shoemakersville; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John W. Martin.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp.
