Obituary

David W. Lightcap, 87, of Greenwich Twp., passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 in Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. He was the husband of Sabilla A. "Cookie" (Young) Lightcap. They were married on June 6, 1964 and celebrated sixty-years of marriage.

Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Anna E. (Haas) Lightcap. David was a 1955 graduate of Kutztown High School and graduated with honors from General Motors Institute, Flint, Michigan, in 1957. He was in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. He worked as parts manager at Kutztown Auto Company from 1962 until his retirement. David was a member of Frieden's Church of Lenhartsville, where he was a past choir member, member of consistory, elder and treasurer and financial secretary. He was a life member of the Checkered Flag fan club; member of the Air Force Reserve; Kutztown Auxiliary Police; and Kutztown Jaycees. David was also a former member of the Berks County Junior Miss Pageant Committee; former president, treasurer, member of the truck crew and board of Governors of Kutztown Fire Company No. #1; and a former endowment member of the National Rifle Association.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a nephew: Gary C. Mattox, Colorado; two brothers-in-law: Eric S. George (Susan), Shartlesville; and Lynn D. George (Cathy), Jamesville, NY; and two sisters-in-law: Margaret D. Diehl (Randall), Kutztown; and Carole A. Waters (William), Fleetwood; and their families. David was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law: Doris A. (Lightcap) Mattox and Larry C. Mattox; and a nephew: Jeffrey D. Mattox.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 3:00 pm from Frieden's Church of Lenhartsville, 1512 Old 22, Lenhartsville. Burial will follow in Frieden's Cemetery, Lenhartsville. A visitation with the family will be held in the church September 8, 2:00 to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to Frieden's Church, P.O.
