David R. Himmelberger, 71, of Centre Township, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in St. Luke's Geisinger hospital, Orwigsburg. He was the husband of Susan M. (Keiser) Himmelberger. They were married on July 3, 1976, and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, David was the son of the late Ralph Himmelberger and Mary Alice (Knittle) Himmelberger. He was a 1972 graduate of Hamburg Area High School and earned an associate degree in engineering from Penn State University in 1974.

David worked as an auto mechanic for Schlenker's, Hamburg, for 20 years. He also worked as a maintenance man for March Sportswear for 10 years. David was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fixing things and tinkering. He also enjoyed bowling and photography in his younger years.

In addition to his wife, Susan, David is survived by his sons, Daniel W. Himmelberger, husband of Julie A. (Aaron), of Green Lane, and Michael D. Himmelberger, husband of Kaitlin E. (Geiss), of Wernersville; and his daughter, Katie M. (Himmelberger), wife of Justin J. Kalis, of Macungie. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Evelyn, Isabel, Asher and Emery; and his granddogs, Luna and Maple; and his feline companions: Diego, Lucky, Shooter, and Marbles.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg, PA 19526 (off street parking in rear).
