Fink
October 30, 1940 – October 14, 2024
David A. Fink, 83, of Windsor Twp., passed away Monday, October 14, 2024 in Willow Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Kutztown. He was the loving husband of Linda A. (Simpson) Fink. They were married November 16, 1963 and celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Arlan B. and Ethel A. (Hartinger) Fink. David graduated from Hamburg High School in 1958. In 1962, he received a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. David owned and operated Adams and Bright Drug Store in Hamburg from 1970 until 2008. He was a dedicated member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg. David was a very active person. He was a former church councilperson, communion assistant, member of the handbell choir, served on the Worship and Music committee and the Audit Committee. He was a church usher for 20+ years. He was a member of Windsor Twp. Municipal Authority from 1989-1995. When the authority joined Hamburg Municipal Authority, he became vice-chairman, a position he currently held. He was a member of Vaux Lodge No. 406 F&A.M. He was a former Cub Master and Boy Scout leader. David enjoyed singing and was a member of the former Hamburg Community Concert Choir, Blue Mountain Heritage Chorus, and enjoyed singing in a barbershop quartet. Years ago, he taught botany classes at 6th grade camp. He loved to identify mushrooms and wildflowers while on his many hikes and was quite the amateur botanist. David was the author of The Woodswalker, a column found in the Hamburg Item for 10 years which shared many of his hiking experiences. Also a lifelong learner, he continued to take online pharmacy courses, keeping up with current practices. He also read widely and was a Civil War buff. David was a devoted family man – husband, Dad, and Pappy. He was a pillar of the community of Hamburg caring for many in a variety of ways.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Jon D. Fink, York, and Adam D., husband of Janelle C. (Long) Fink, Windsor Twp.; a daughter: Kristen B. (Fink), wife of William V. Newill, Macungie; five grandchildren: Michael, Patrick, Andrew, Ian, and Greta; and three great-grandchildren: Landon, Lydia, and Hudson. He is also survived by a brother: Philip A., husband of Carol R. (Geiger) Fink, Orwigsburg, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 Church Street Hamburg, PA 19526. A service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
