Darlene R. Klopp, 80, of Upper Tulpehocken Twp., passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 in her residence in the presence of her daughter and Pastor Fred Diehl. She was the wife of the late Herman D. Klopp, Jr., died February 5, 1995.
Born in East Greenville, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Dorothy R. (Epler) Berger. She worked different jobs over the years, first working as a personal caretaker, Gilardone's Embroidery, Virginville; a floor lady at Wright's Knitwear, Hamburg; and last working at JDM, Hamburg, before becoming disabled. Prior to her career working, she was a stay at home mom taking care of her daughter Dorothy, before she started school. Darlene enjoyed sewing, gardening, crocheting , making hook rugs, and working on her family farm. She had a great love for animals especially horses, dogs and cats. She could be seen dancing with her relatives and friends at local band venues. She loved watching western shows because of her love for horses.
Most of all, Darlene adored her family, babies, and children. She was a Sunday school teacher for 17 years in the Nursery/Preschool classroom.
She was a member of Rehrersburg and Bethel Fire Companies; and Strausstown Rod and Gun Club.
She is survived by her daughter: Dorothy M. (Klopp) Holmberg, widow of Martin J. Holmberg; two grandchildren: Jessica N. (Holmberg) Rochefort, wife of Don, and Tabitha R. Holmberg, companion of Matt Johnson and five great-grandchildren: Piper, Joey, Alli, June, and James. She is also survived by step-grandchildren: Joseph "JJ" Martin, husband of Emily and Jason Martin, husband of Kay; step-great grandchildren: Kalie, Lauren, Lanye, and Kade; and two sisters: Harriett (Berger) Kline, companion of Ron Jamison and Dorothea (Berger) Huey, widow of Robert Huey. She was predeceased by two step-children: Lenny Klopp, and Sandy Martin.
Services will be on Saturday, May 11 at 10 am at North Heidelberg Church 184 Old Church Road, Robesonia. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com
