Clyde J. Stoyer, 87, of Bern Twp., died Thursday, June 13, 2013 in the Reading Hospital. He was the companion of Elsie L. Bordner, died May 3, 2013.
Born in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., he was the son of the late John H. and Louisa E. (Rentschler) Stoyer. Clyde was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He first worked for Anthony's Poultry Farm in Strausstown for fifteen years. He then worked for Maier's Sunbeam Bakery. Clyde last worked for eighteen years for A-Treat Bottling Works, Wyomissing, retiring January 31, 1989. He was a member of St. Thomas United Church of Christ, Bernville. Clyde enjoyed traveling and gardening. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Berks Heim.
Clyde is survived by two daughters: Donna M. (Stoyer), wife of Timmy R. Johnson, Broken Bow, Oklahoma; and Doris M. (Stoyer), wife of Roger L. Davis, Jefferson Twp.; three grandsons: Michael Davis, and his wife Suzanne; David Moyer; and Tim Moyer, and his wife Jennifer; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister: Emma (Troutman) Spangler, Mt. Zion, Lebanon Co.; and Elsie's daughter: Garnetta E., wife of Carl Gruber, Upper Bern Twp. Clyde was predeceased by one brother: Crenton; and four sisters: Edna, Katie, Verna, and Edna.
Services will held on Monday at 2:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will be in Strausstown Cemetery. A viewing will be held in the funeral home on Sunday 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
