Clarence W. Moyer, 84, of Centre Twp., died Thursday, June 13, 2013 in the Reading Hospital. He was taken there from the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp., where he resided. He was the husband of Betty L. (Hepner) Moyer, died October 4, 1996.
Born in West Leesport, he was the son of the late Earl M. and Catherine (Riegel) Moyer. Clarence was a graduate of Ontelaunee High School. He was U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Clarence first worked at Ontelaunee Orchards for thirteen years; and then as a mechanic for Harvey Golden, Reading. He last worked as a truck driver for Exxon Corporation, Tuckerton, until his retirement. Clarence was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Leesport. He was a former fire truck driver for the Leesport Fire Company. Clarence enjoyed fishing in Delaware; cars; TV; riding his mower; and the "Simple Life".
Clarence is survived by one daughter: Carol A. (Moyer), wife of J. Scott Lied, Laureldale; two grandsons: Brian S. Lied, and his wife Alexandra; and Steven A. Lied, and his wife Amy; and one brother: Carl Moyer, and his wife Doris. Clarence is also survived by his companion: Arlene M. Smith, Centre Twp. He was predeceased by a brother: Chester Moyer.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Leesport Cemetery.
