Christine P. Miller, "Peggy", 68, of Shoemakersville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the wife of Donald R. Miller, whom she married on August 28, 1965.
Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late John and Fern (Zimmerman) O'Neil. Peggy was a nursery school teacher for thirty years for Church Mouse Nursery School at St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville, retiring in 2011. She was a member of St. Luke's Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for forty-five years. Peggy was secretary of the Sunday School board; a member and secretary of the DORCAS (women's group) at church; and a member of the church choir. She enjoyed scrapbooking, needlepoint, crafts, plastic canvas, and crocheting.
Surviving in addition to her husband is one son: Scott D. "Bud", husband of Wendy Miller, Ephrata; two daughters: Lisa M. (Miller), wife of Ryan Hoffert; and Mandy K. Miller, both of Shoemakersville; three grandchildren: Jay; Lauren, wife of William Haring; and Ben; and one great-granddaughter: Ellie. Peggy is also survived by three brothers: Steve O'Neil and Andy O'Neil, both of Kutztown; and Mick O'Neil, Wyomissing; and two sisters: Suzanne O'Neil, Reading; and Kathy Helbert, Lyons.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am from St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville. A viewing will be held in the church Monday 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Tuesday 9:00 to 10:30 am. A private family burial will take place in St. Luke's Cemetery, Perry Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Luke's Church Memorial Fund, Fifth and Franklin Streets, Shoemakersville, PA 19555.
