Christina F. Gleason, 54, Hamburg, died peacefully at home on Monday, December 10, 2012, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Betty G. (Carbaugh) Gleason. She was a 1975 graduate of Hamburg Area High School. Christina worked as a barn manager in the horse industry. She attended The Bridge Church, Hamburg. Christina was known for her bubbly personality and her sense of humor. She had a great love for horses and all animals. Her love of animals enabled her to take in and care for any stray animal. She was very knowledgeable about horses and was secretary of the Pennsylvania Cutting Horse Association. She was also a member of the AQHA; NCHA; and the NRHA. Christina's nieces and nephews were her life.
Christina is survived by two sisters: Elizabeth F. (Gleason), wife of Barry L. Shollenberger, Hamburg and with whom she resided; and Michelle F. (Gleason), wife of Monty Stetzer, Tilden Twp.; two aunts: Cecilia Carbaugh, widow of Mark Stump, Leesburg, Florida; and Maryanne Faber, in Delaware; three nephews: Jordan Ernst; Kyle Shollenberger, and his wife Maria; and Daniel Shollenberger; two nieces: Kendall (Ernst), wife of Sam Gaugler; and Aidan Stetzer; and two great-nieces: Maddalena and Francesca Shollenberger. She was predeceased by a niece: Taryn Ernst. Christina is also survived by her dog Jack.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. A visitation with the family will be held on Friday from 9:30 to 11:00 am.
