Charlotte G. Nitardi, 94, of Shoemakersville, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 2, 2015 in St. Joseph Medical Center. She was taken from Grandview Manor, Fleetwood, where she was currently residing. She was the wife of John J. Nitardi, who died August 9, 1980. Born in Mt. Penn, she was the daughter of the late Charles Michael and Gertrude (Bevitch) Michael Sweitzer. Charlotte and her husband owned and operated the former Town Tavern, Reading. She was a member of Frieden's Church, Shartlesville. Charlotte was also a member of the Shartlesville Grange #1512, where she was the women's activity chairperson for thirteen years. Charlotte is survived by one son: Paul P. Harter, Jr., husband of Charolette L. (Klee) Harter, Tilden Twp.; two daughters: Frances K. Nitardi, West Lawn; and Peggy Harter, Reading; ten grandchildren: Daniel Wade, Terry Wade, Christopher Wade, Dennis Wade, Michele Rohrer, James Rohrer, Kristen Farr, Michael Nitardi, Dawn Fox and Kevin Fox; and three great-grandchildren: Bodin Farr; and Matthew and Allison Wade. She is also survived by a step-brother: Stanley Sweitzer, Reading; and sister-in-law: Gloria Michael Kauffman, Tilden Twp. Charlotte was predeceased by her foster parents: John S. and Dorothy (Wade) Metz); a brother: Richard Michael; and a son: John B. Nitardi. Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in Frieden's Cemetery, Shartlesville.
