Charles "Ted" Schott passed away suddenly on December 15, 2013 at the age of 83 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was a resident of Reading, PA after moving from Greensburg, PA in 2004.
The son of Joseph and Mary (Fry) Schott, Ted was born on August 8, 1930 in Latrobe, PA. Ted is survived by wife Gloria (Walker) Schott with whom he shared 56 happy years of marriage. He is also survived by daughter Tracy Schott-Wagner, wife of Dr. Boyd Wagner III of Leesport, PA, and son Rick Schott, husband of Jill Schott, of Lake Wynona, PA and grandsons Boyd (Bo) Wagner IV, Lucas Schott, and Ian Wagner. Ted is also survived by sister Patricia Kistler, wife of Bud (deceased) of Greensburg, PA, and brother Joseph Schott, husband of Pauline, of Latrobe, PA as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by sisters Marian Murray, Dorothy Murray, Katherine Melago, Marge Eltringham, and Jean Slivko.
Ted was a graduate of Latrobe High School (1948) and a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He was Tool and Die Maker at Westinghouse before becoming a Realtor, eventually becoming a Broker and opening Schott Realty. Ted also worked as a Real Estate Appraiser, before retiring to work as a Valet at the Reading Hospital.
Ted was active in the church all of his life. He was an Altar Boy at Holy Family, Latrobe, PA, and sang for many years in the choir at The Church of the Brethren, Greensburg, PA. He is also a former member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Temple PA, and was a member Holy Cross Methodist Church, Reading PA. Ted volunteered many hours with the Rotary Clubs of Youngwood, PA and Muhlenberg, PA, and was elected a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member of the Farview RC Flyers club in Hamburg, PA.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach St, Leesport, PA at 11:30 AM. Visitors will be welcome to pay their respects at 10:30 AM. Rev. John Gudikunst will preside. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, P.O.
