Charles H. Eddinger, 87, formerly of Leesport, died Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest. He was taken there from Above and Beyond Personal Care Home, Allentown. He previously resided at Berks Leisure Living, Bern Twp. and the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. Born in Leesport, he was the son of the late John and Estella M. (Henne) Eddinger. Charles was a 1944 graduate of Ontelaunee Vocational School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, receiving the American and Pacific Theater Ribbons and Victory Medal. While in the service, Charles served as a SeaBee. Charles worked for various knitting mills in the area. He was a member of the Leesport and Riverside Fire Companies. Charles is survived by one sister: Emily Cramer and her husband Wilson, Blandon; two nephews: Terry Eddinger and Don Cramer; and one niece: Sandra Turczynski. He was predeceased by his companion: Fern A. Boyer; and two brothers: Samuel and Harold Eddinger. There will be no services. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
