Carole Dawn Murry, 71, of Shillington, passed away unexpectedly on March 20, 2022. Surviving family are deeply saddened by her sudden death. Carole was born on February 25, 1951, to Florence (Fields) and Shirley Fox in Bradford. She graduated from Smethport High School and later started her own collectible topical stamp business and was a talented watercolor artist of First Day covers. Carole was married to Herbert L. Murry, Jr. They have two daughters together, Nikki M. Murry, Hamburg, and Kelley D. Murry, Oley. She was predeceased by her parents, as well has her sister, Brenda (Fox) Woodring. She is survived by her brother, Steven Fox, Tunkhannock, and a grandson, Riley Murry, Hamburg.
Perhaps more than anything, Carole was a great lover of animals, especially cats. She happily cared for many during her lifetime, but none captured her heart more fiercely than her Siamese, Best -- hence the name. As a resident of the Mifflin Center, Shillington, in recent years, Carole was a caretaker for and best friend of the resident cat, Tiger, and immensely and dutifully enjoyed her role as feeder of the Center's fish. With Tiger by her side, she could frequently be found putting together one of her many puzzles, enjoying a game of Bingo, watching a scary movie on Netflix, or cheering on her beloved Philadelphia 76ers. Go Tyrese Maxey!
Services were limited to immediate family and were private. In Carole's honor, her family asks that donations be made to a cause near and dear to her heart in support of the kitties to: Cat Angel Network, P.O. Box 3071, Stowe, PA 19464 or online at catangel.org/meow/donate/.
