Carl A. Francis, "Chip", 94, of Hamburg, passed away in his residence on Saturday, February 20, 2016. He was the husband of Mildred L. (Dietrich) Francis, who died December 15, 2015. Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late Aaron and Sallie (Henne) Francis. He was a 1938 graduate of Hamburg High School. Following graduation, Carl worked for Fairmount Foundry, Hamburg, until retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg, where he was a former member of church council. Carl was a former troop leader for Boy Scout Troop #184, Hamburg, and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a life member of Union Fire Company, Hamburg and beneficial association; life member of Hamburg Game Association; member of the P.O.S.of A. #146 Washington Camp; former member and past president of the Hamburg Exchange Club; and former member and past secretary of Mountain Springs Association, Reading. Carl enjoyed fishing. Carl is survived by one son: Richard C. Francis, husband of Sharon E. (Wagner) Francis, Windsor Twp.; one daughter: Della M. Francis, Hamburg; four grandchildren: Carrie E. (Francis), wife of Cameron Bailey; Eric R. Francis; Tracy L. Francis; and Annie E. Francis; and one great-grandson: Rhys Bailey. He was predeceased by three brothers: Emmett, Donald, and Paul Francis. Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Saturday 10:00 to 11:00 am.
