Stees
September 4, 1947 – January 5, 2024
Bruce L. Stees, 76, of Edenburg, Windsor Twp.; passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 in the Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Aveline M. (Epler) Stees. They were married in October 2000 and celebrated twenty-three years of marriage.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Melvin and Ruth (Mutch) Stees. Bruce was a 1965 graduate of Hamburg High School and a 1969 graduate of Elizabethtown College. He worked in motel/hotel management and the cooking industry. Bruce owned and operated The Regal Hotel, Hamburg; as well as working for Hilton Hotels, Holiday Inn, The Inn at Reading, and Cabela's. He also worked for IAP Government Services Group Military Contractors in Iraq and Baghdad. Bruce was a member of Vaux Lodge #406 F. & A.M., Hamburg. He enjoyed playing guitar and was a member of The Triumphs while in high school. Bruce also enjoyed NASCAR, going to races, antique cars, flea markets, antiquing and watching football. But most of all, he loved to cook.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Jennifer L. (Krieger), wife of Jason Jozefick; and Jeffrey L. Krieger, husband of Stephanie; and six grandchildren: Benjamin Krieger; Ty, Jonah and Reiley Jozefick; and Cecelia and Finnick Krieger. Bruce is also survived by a sister: Karen (Stees) Ely; and a nephew: Michael. He was predeceased by a son: Jeremy J. Krieger; and a niece: Jennifer Ely Dorbich. Bruce will be missed by his canine companion: Marley.
Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Thursday 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Michael's Church, 529 St. Michael's Road, Hamburg, PA 19526.
