Brenda Louise (Shollenberger) Schappell, 72, of Reading, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home

on February 5, 2023. She was the wife of Sterling Schappell Jr., with whom she celebrated 50 wonderful

years of marriage.

She was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on July 28, 1950, to the late Earl E.

Shollenberger and Helen I. (Wentzel) Shollenberger. She was a graduate of Reading High School, class of

1968. She then attended Reading Business Institute with a focus on Medical Secretary, class of 1970.

Brenda worked as a Medical Secretary for over 40 years in various local medical offices. She was a

member of Nativity Lutheran Church where she was a Nursery Sunday School teacher. Brenda loved

enjoying cruises with Sterling, weekly trips to the casinos, and finding the best shopping deals.

In addition to her husband, Brenda is survived by her three children – Jarrod Schappell, husband of Vicky,

Jenessa Speicher, wife of Joshua, and Jillian Hole, wife of David; her two grandchildren, Gabriel and

Josephine Speicher; and her brother, Denton Shollenberger, husband of Emily.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc. 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
