Blanche R. Blair, 100, of Upper Bern Twp., died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was wife of Charles E. Blair, died December 28, 1977. Born in Reading on May 30, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Benton and Bessie (Gehret) Ritz. Blanche was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Hamburg. She enjoyed reading the Bible everyday. Blanche was a member of Blue Mountain Chapter #443 Order of Eastern Star, Hamburg where she was a former flag bearer and tyler. Blanche is survived by three sons: Sherwood F. White, husband of Bernice White, Windsor Twp.; Gary L. White, husband of Barbara White, Schuylkill Haven; and Barry L. White, Upper Bern Twp.; three daughters: Doris J. (White) Slonaker, Sinking Spring; Gladys D. (White) Schearer, Blandon; and Rose M. White, Upper Bern Twp.; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother: Sherwood C. Ritz, Bern Twp.; and one sister: Mae (Ritz) Light, Muhlenberg Twp. Blanche was predeceased by two sons: Wilbur W. White, Jr. and James G. White; and three daughters: Karen White; Gloria (White) Sajdak; and Carol G. (White) Grim. Services will be private at the convenience of the family from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg.
