Betty R. Romanies, 86, formerly of Leesport, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in Berks Heim. Born in Branenville, PA she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth (Steimling) Rupp. She was a member of St. John's (Gernant's) Church, Ontelaunee Twp. She was a 1947 graduate of East Union Township High School, Sheppton, PA. She worked as a cafeteria worker for 24 years in Schuylkill Valley School District. Retiring in 1994. Prior to working at Schuylkill Valley she worked in the meat room at the IGA in Leesport. Betty loved her family and enjoyed her home and her church. She was a member of Reading Chapter No. 251 Order of the Eastern Star. Betty is survived by two sons: Carl A. Romanies, Centre Twp.; John R. husband of Bonnie E. (Sekulski), Spring Twp.; a daughter: Rose M. (Romanies) wife of Dennis G. Eisenhofer, Centre Twp.; 7 grandchildren: Jill, Joseph, Justin, Todd, Nicole, Megan, and Nicholas; and 7 great-grandchildren: Katie, Owen, Samantha, Keagan, Mallory, Luke, and Samuel. She is also survived by two sisters: Alice Dormer, Harrisburg, and Mary Zamonas, Branenville. She was predeceased by her husband Alex Romanies, and two brothers: Clarence and Larry Rupp. Services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in Leesport Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home.
