Betty J. Heffner, 80, formerly of Maidencreek Twp., passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. She was the wife of Robert P. Heffner, who died in 1997. Born in Richmond Twp., she was the daughter of the late Warren and Evelyn (Gift) Wesner. Betty worked as an assembler for Wenton Shoe Factory, Saucony Shoe Factory and Deisher's Knitting Mill; and last worked at Kutztown Manor as an aide. She owned and operated Betty's Candies at the Leesport Market. Betty loved socializing at the market and making friends. She especially enjoyed crocheting. Betty is survived by two daughters: Mary J. (Heffner), wife of Chad Wertz, Shoemakersville; and Melisa J. (Heffner) Buchman, Richmond Twp.; four grandchildren: Robert Moyer, husband of Natasha; Mason Moyer; Matthew Buchman; and Abigail Buchman; and one great-granddaughter Taylor Moyer. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Fleetwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Wednesday 9:30 to 11:00 am.
