Obituary

Betty L. Hartz, 69, died on July 1, 2022 in her Mohrsville Residence, surrounded by many loved ones.

Born August 4, 1952 in Jefferson Twp., she was the daughter of Barbara A. (Knabb) Hartz-Steffe and the late Robert Hartz. Betty was a 1970 graduate of Tulpehocken High School.

Betty is survived by her husband Thomas O'Donnell, two daughters: Jan Hartz and Michelle Franks, her mother, three brothers: Larry Hartz, Ronald Hartz, and Robert Hartz; three sisters: Bobbi Lauer, Joann Reppert, and Lori Weaver; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Betty's family was her greatest joy. Betty enjoyed the outdoors especially biking, hiking, camping and kayaking. She loved gardening flowers and canning her homegrown vegetables, and of course she was an excellent cook. Betty's favorite activity was spoiling her grandchildren.

Betty worked many jobs during her life, from a secretary at the FBI, nurse's aide, hotel staff, factory worker, and starting her own business. She retired from Temple Aluminum Foundry in 2016 after working 17 years.

Betty would like to thank everyone for helping her enjoy her special life. A special thank you to the staff at Penn State Oncology for being there for her for the last 18 months. In remembrance of Betty, plant a tree, stop to listen to the birds, or do a kind deed.

A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.
