Bessie Imbesi, 87, of Centre Twp., passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022 in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Antonio Imbesi. He passed away July 26, 2005.

Born in Falcone, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Tindaro and Betty (Cambria) Bisbano. She worked as a sewing machine operator at Berkshire Knitting Mill, and often served as a translator for other Italian workers at the mill. She later owned and operated a hair salon on Penn Street in Reading, and always enjoyed working with her sons in his pizza shops. Bessie loved to cook.

She is survived by three sons: Tino F. Imbesi, husband of Linda A. (Gordon), Mohrsville, Jeffrey J. Imbesi, husband of Darlene, and Michael A. Imbesi, fiance of Sherry Dalton, Florida; two grandchildren: Jamie and Nicholas Imbesi; and a great-grandson: Michael. She is also survived by two brothers: Mario Bisbano, husband of Maria, and Carmelo Bisbano, husband of Joette; and a sister: Pasqualina (Bisbano) Scarpaci, wife of Guiseppe. She was predeceased by a grandson: Tony; and a sister: Carmela.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 14, 20222 at 11:00 am from St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Reading, PA 19608. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the church.
