Obituary

Bernice Ann Schwartz (Dehrone)

September 17, 1959 – November 1, 2025

Bernice Ann Schwartz (Dehrone), 66, passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2025.

Born on September 17, 1959, Bernice was the cherished daughter of the late Lester and Eleanor (Hoff) Dehrone. She was a proud graduate of the Northampton High School Class of 1977 and a member of Zion Stone United Church of Christ in Kreidersville, PA.

Bernice was married to her soulmate, Keith Schwartz, for 44 years, building a marriage grounded in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. In recent years, Keith cared for Bernice with a level of compassion and unconditional love that reflected the bond they shared—a love that endured through every challenge and triumph.

For more than 20 years, Bernice dedicated her career to CVS Health (formerly Aetna Health Insurance), where she was admired for her work ethic, kindness, and ability to make everyone around her feel valued and cared for. Her colleagues often described her as both fiercely capable and endlessly compassionate—a rare combination that made her one of a kind.

Bernice's greatest pride and joy were her family. She is survived by her loving husband Keith; her sister Freda Butz and husband Kenneth of Lancaster, PA; and her three children—Ryan Dehrone of North Pole, Alaska; Joshua Schwartz of Nanticoke, PA, and his partner Devon Buckley; and Brittney Hadden and husband Chris, with whom she resided in Leesport.

She was the proud and deeply adored Nana to her grandchildren Owen, Parker, Natalie, and Ariella, and she joins her beloved grandson Quinton in heaven. Bernice was also a beloved aunt, a beloved sister-in-law, and had a large extended family whom she loved dearly and who brought her endless happiness.

Before moving to Leesport, Bernice made her home in Bowmanstown, PA, where she raised her family with love, warmth, and dedication.

Those who knew Bernice will remember her for her vibrant personality, humor, and enormous heart. Her laughter could fill a room, and she had a remarkable gift for finding joy in even the simplest moments. Growing up with her meant a home full of stories, laughter, and the kind of love that stays with you forever. She never failed to make her children laugh, often turning everyday moments into cherished family memories.

She was also known for her signature "Bernicisms"—words, phrases, and expressions that no one else quite understood, yet somehow always made perfect sense. They became a language all her own, one that her family will treasure and laugh about forever.

Her faith was her steady foundation—a quiet strength that guided how she lived and loved. She lived by example, showing her children and grandchildren what it meant to be kind, generous, and steadfast in both heart and spirit.

She loved crafts, playing board games, and spending time with family—often laughing until tears filled her eyes. And if a mysterious Amazon package showed up on your doorstep, there was a good chance it came from her—she delighted in surprising loved ones with thoughtful gifts "just because."

Though she could be a tough cookie, Bernice's love was fierce and unconditional. She gave selflessly, lived fully, and never hesitated to help those in need.

Bernice will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, Nana, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. Her warmth, laughter, and love will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

Her family will forever hold her laughter, love, and memory close to their hearts. She was truly one of a kind, and while her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, her spirit will live on in every story told, every laugh shared, and every act of love inspired by her. Our hearts will remain broken, but they will forever beat with her love.
