Anna L. Bair, 89, of Leesport, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 in Complete Care at Berkshire. She was the wife of Calvin H. Bair, Jr. They were married August 16, 1952 and celebrated 69 years of marriage.
Born in 1932 in Centerport, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Minnie (Zerbe) Rentschler. Anna graduated from Reading High School in 1950. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She started her career working at the Polymer Corporation in 1950 as a secretary. She later worked at the Fun Shop in the Fairgrounds Mall, and finished working at CNA Insurance Company. In addition to working outside of the home, she worked with her husband as secretary and treasurer for the family business, C.H. Bair, Jr., Contractor and Builder. Anna belonged to the Centerport Flower Club and served as secretary, Centerport Sunday School, serving as treasurer, and was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, and was a former consistory member, and helped to serve food at the many dinners. She was a sports fan, and loved the Phillies and Eagles. Anna loved music and sang in many choirs, including Northeast Junior High School Glee Club, 2 Berks County District Choirs, and Centerport Grange Chorus.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters: Cheryl L. (Bair) Felix, Leesport, and Jane L. (Bair) Borkey, wife of Todd, Ellicott City, MD; five grandchildren: Brandon fiance of Katie, Michael husband of Laura, Deanne wife of Cody, Hillary wife of Elliot, and Quinn; and five great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Lachlan, Lylah, Finn, and one on the way. She is also survived by a sister: Gloria Unger, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers: Wayne, Paul, and Raymond Rentschler; and sisters: Miriam Kreider, and Dorothy Miller.
