Ann M. Stoudt, 81, of Shartlesville, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 in her residence. She was the wife of Harvey S. Stoudt, who died February 14, 1980. Born in Long Island, New York, she was the daughter of the late Hans "John" and Marie (Meyer) Hillje. Ann grew up working in Haag's Hotel, Shartlesville and then started a life-long family business with her husband. She owned and operated Stoudt's Fruit Farm and Stoudt's Soft Ice Cream Truck up until she retired. For having minimal education, she really succeeded in life. Through her business, Ann always gave special attention to all her customers and especially catered to children. Many customers turned into wonderful friends. Ann was a hard worker who loved people and enjoyed being around them. She touched so many people's lives. She was always willing to help others. Ann was a devoted wife and committed mother who took great delight in her grandchildren. Ann passed away from a battling fight against cancer. She was a tough and courageous woman. Throughout her life, nothing set her back until cancer. Ann survived the depression, being a widow at a young age, raising three kids and running the family business. Even during the most adverse conditions, she was a strong woman. Ann is survived by two sons: Dale H. Stoudt, and his wife Nadine, Bern Twp.; and Bob L. Stoudt, Upper Bern Twp.; one daughter: Ann R. (Stoudt) Rentschler, Shartlesville; two grandchildren: Colton Rentschler and Amber Stoudt; and one brother: Harold Hillje, Schuylkill Co. She was predeceased by a sister: Wilma Hillje. Ann will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her. On behaf of her wishes, services will be held with the immediate family.
