Obituary

Anita L. Bond, 69, of Bern Twp., died Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the wife of Harold L. Bond. They were married April 12, 1969 and celebrated 49 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Sodoy T. and Carolyn (Shultz) Steigerwald. Anita was a member of St. Thomas Church, Bernville. She graduated from RACC as an LPN, and later St. Joseph Hospital as an RN. She worked at Community General Hospital in Reading for 21 years, Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia for about 6 years, and Shriner's Hospital for Children, Philadelphia for a few years. She then worked as a nurse at the Highlands, Wyomissing, and Stone Ridge in Meyerstown. Anita retired in 2015. She was a member of Daughter's of the American Revolution, Children of the American Revolution, where she was instrumental in running the local chapter, and Conrad Weiser Lodge No. 449 Order of Eastern Star Womelsdorf.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a brother, two sisters, an aunt, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. Viewings will be held Wednesday, June 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30.
