Andrew G. Tankred, 81, of Bernville, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Twp. He was the husband of Marie M. (Seaman) Tankred. They were married May 23, 1991 and celebrated 30 years of marriage.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Betty (Scholl) Tankred. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Andrew worked for Reading Eagle Company in the Distribution Center for about 20 years. He also spent 26 years driving bus for Continental Trailways. He was a 56 year member of the fire service, serving as a fireman and a fire police officer. Throughout his career he served with numerous companies, but most recently, Bernville Community Fire Company. He was a member of Strausstown Rod and Gun Club, the VFW, Ephrata, and the Berks County Fire Police Association. He always loved to spoil his dogs and grandchildren, and sit on his front porch. He was a transportation guru, and always loved planes, trains, and automobiles.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son: Jason A. Tankred, husband of Florence H. (Dries), Penn Twp.; a daughter: Tracy M. Tankred, Pasco County, FL; and his grandchildren: Victoria, Douglas, Nicholas, and William. He is also survived by his other children, grandchildren, and brothers and sisters.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 1:30 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport. Inurnment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in the funeral home.
