Amy L. Knopsnyder, 55, of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026. She was the wife of Thomas R. Knopsnyder. They were married July 18, 1992 and celebrated 33 years of marriage.
Born in Meyersdale, PA, she was the daughter of Carolyn (Ravenscraft) Hemming; and the late Kenneth Hemming. Amy graduated from Meyersdale Area High School in 1989; attended University of Pittsburgh; and later received a bachelor's degree from ICM Business School, Pittsburgh. She worked as an accountant for various local organizations: Wyomissing Area Education Foundation (WAEF) for the past 17 years, Peacock Bridge Kennels, Leesport, Reading Science Center, and Junior League of Reading. Amy was always busy with her children- she was the quintessential "Swim Mom." She was very actively involved in swim activities with Ephrata Swim Club, Schuylkill Valley Age Group, Bern Township Swim Club, Wyomissing Swim Club, Lancaster Aquatic Club, and Reading YMCA. She often volunteered to run bingo with Ephrata High School; and will be remembered for her party planning skills. Aside from swimming, Amy enjoyed many trips to Disney World with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother is a son: Lucas T. Knopsnyder, Ephrata - a deputy sheriff with York County Sheriff's Department; and a daughter: Ava N. Knopsnyder, Ephrata - a student at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV); and her canine companion: Mango. She is also survived by a brother: David Hemming, husband of Jessica, Meyersdale.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 7:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions many be sent to an animal rescue of your chosing.
