Alvin F. Shade, Sr., 74, of Hamburg, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at St. Luke's Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg.

Born in Berks County on August 3, 1952, Alvin was a son of the late James W. Shade, Sr. and May E. (Ludwig) Shade. Alvin worked as a painter for Allen H. Shade Painting, Reading, for more than 35 years alongside his brothers. He enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies, going out to eat, and spending time with his grandchildren. Alvin was always willing to lend a helping hand when he could, but above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Alvin is survived by his four sons: Alvin F. Shade, Jr., husband of Wendy A. (Strausser) Shade, Hamburg; Jason A. Shade, husband of Stefanie (Lord) Shade, Exeter Township; Matthew J. Shade, Reading; and Kristopher L. Shade, Hamburg.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Braydon, Kayla, Melodie, Kayla, Zachary, Victoria, Ava, Gabriel, Ivy, and Jaxson; and a great-granddaughter, Willow C. Shade. Alvin is further survived by his brothers, Allen "Lad" Shade, and James Shade, Jr.; and sisters, Bambi Swartzel, Ruth McCoy, Robin Shade, and Tami Shade. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Serenity; and his brothers, Mike Shade, Sr., David Shade, Sr., and Richard "Rick" Shade, Sr.
