Ada H. Spatz, 88, of Centre Twp., died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center where she was a patient since Friday. She was taken there from Berks Heim where she resided for two years. Ada was the wife of Lester P. Spatz, died August 24, 2009.
Born in Centre Twp., she was the daughter of the late Leroy H. and Mary (Bagenstose) Weist. Ada was a cafeteria worker for fourteen years for the Schuylkill Valley School District, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. Ada was a charter member of Central Berks Fire Company and beneficial association, Centerport. She enjoyed quilting and baking. Ada was known for her famous pies and fasnachts.
Surviving are two sons: Barry L. Spatz, companion of Linda (Sandy) Rhine, Annville; and Ronald D. Spatz, husband of Kim (Groff) Spatz, Dauberville; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Ada is also survived by two brothers: John Weist and Kenneth Weist, both of Centre Twp.; and two sisters: Betty (Weist) Naftzinger, Tilden Twp.; and Anna (Weist) Lied, Fritztown. She was predeceased by a son: Paul L. Spatz, died February 2, 2005; grandson: Mark E. Spatz, died May 6, 2012; one brother: Leroy Weist; and three sisters1: Mildred (Weist) Folk; Mae (Weist) Christ; and Mary (Weist) Snyder.
Services will be on Saturday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp.
