Abner R. Huntsberger, Jr., 97, of Hamburg, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 in Maidencreek Place.  He was the husband of Jean I. (Ketner) Huntsberger, who died September 30, 2016.

Born in Boiling Springs, Cumberland Co., he was the son of the late Abner R., Sr., and I. Esther (Calaman) Huntsberger.  Abner was a graduate of Hamburg High School.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.  Abner first worked for Windsor Dairy Company.  He then worked for Western Electric and AT&T for many years until his retirement.  He was a member of Zion Blue Mt. United Church of Christ, Strausstown.  Abner enjoyed birds, listening to the oldies; watching sports and reading the paper. He was an avid golfer.

Abner is survived by a sister: Betty L. (Huntsberger) DeLong, Hamburg; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters: C. Jean (Huntsberger) Bachman; and Shirley A. (Huntsberger) Sterner.

Services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear).  Burial will follow in Strausstown Cemetery.  A viewing will be held in the funeral home Saturday 9:00 to 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Zion Blue Mt.
