Obituary for Thomas G. Moyer

Thomas G. Moyer, 80, of Perry Twp., passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in his residence. He was the husband of Sara A. (Kline) Moyer. They were married on February 18, 1967 and celebrated fifty-one years of marriage.
Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late Paul F. Moyer and Verna M. (Miller) Moyer Hamm. Thomas was a 1956 graduate of Hamburg High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. While in the service, Thomas studied Chinese at Yale University. After his discharge from the Air Force, he graduated from Pennsylvania State University; and attended University of Washington. Thomas worked for the United States Department of Defense. During his career, he and his family resided in Taiwan and Australia. While in high school, Thomas played soccer, basketball and baseball. Later in life, Thomas enjoyed playing golf. He would rather participate in sports than watch. Thomas enjoyed taking and making videos for his family members. He also enjoyed computers, running, and biking.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons: Steven G. Moyer, and his wife Lea, Tilden Twp.; Michael T. Moyer, Glen Rock, York Co.; and Jeffrey P. Moyer, and his wife Gretchen, Maytown, Lancaster Co.; four grandchildren: Corbin Moyer, and his wife Laura; Monica Houston; Michael Houston, and his wife Elizabeth; and Andrew Houston; and three great-granddaughters: Marissa, Cassidy, and Dorothy Houston. Thomas is also survived by three brothers: Paul F. Moyer, and his wife Betty, Sugar Land, Texas; Donald R. Moyer, and his wife Sonia, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Barry L. Moyer, and his wife Dorothy, Dayton, Ohio; and two sisters: Joan A. (Moyer), wife of Douglas Adams, Perry Twp.; and Diane M. Moyer, Hamburg.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral home Wednesday 12:30 to 2:00 pm.
