Obituary for Steven R. Smith
Steven R. Smith, 68, of Leesport, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022 in his residence. He was the husband of Alison E. (Douglas) Smith. They were married October 13, 1991 and celebrated 30 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Jack R. and Arlene (Schucavage) Smith. He graduated from Holy Name High School in 1971. He was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church. Steve worked as a bartender, eventually becoming a Restaurant Manager. He was known for his jobs at 3rd and Spruce Cafe, Wild Wing Cafe, and last worked at Chili's, Wyomissing before retiring in March 2021. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow skiing, and golf. He was a 3rd generation owner of his cabin at Lake Wallenpaupack and always enjoyed his time there. He loved annual trips to Mt. Snow for the past 24 years. Steve was a great father, husband and friend. He was known around the area for his great personality.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son: Kyle R. Smith, Port Clinton; a daughter: Shannon E. Smith, Harrisburg; two brothers: Timothy Smith, San Diego, CA, and Jeffrey Smith, Mooresville, NC; and his canine companions: Roxy and Murphy. He was predeceased by his brother: Michael Smith.
A visitation with the family will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. A time of sharing will then be held at 3:00 pm, where friends are encouraged to share their memories of Steve.
