Obituary for Simone S. Sauers Houck
Simone S. Sauers Houck, 72, of Rockland Twp., passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in her residence. She was the wife of Ronald C. Houck. They were married on September 19, 2009 and celebrated fourteen years of marriage.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Sarah (Heckman) Sauers. Simone owned and operated her own hair salon. She also worked as a phlebotomist for Miller Keystone Blood Center and as a human resources manager for Kmart. Simone founded Operation Enduring Freedom of Berks County. She enjoyed crafting, coloring and going to the casinos.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children: Sarah L. Miller, wife of Michael, Hamburg; Brock Minnich, husband of Cindy, Oley; and Jessica Donohoe, wife of Stephen, Myerstown; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sixth on the way. Simone is also survived by two brothers: Barry Sauers and Herbert Sauers. She was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.
Services will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamburg. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Monday 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Ray Master Post 217 American Legion, 133 Centre Avenue, Topton, PA 19562.
