Samuel D. Kistler, 73, of Hamburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest. He was the loving husband of Bernice A. (Strause) Kistler. They were married on May 6, 1989 and celebrate thirty-one years of marriage.
Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Homer and Edna (Burnt) Kistler. Sam was a graduate of Wilson High School. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Sam worked as a maintenance mechanic for A-Treat and Glidden Paint; and last as a truck driver for Harold Adam. He was a member of Zion's Church, Windsor Castle. Sam was a member of the Shoemakersville Senior Citizens and People Over 50 senior group. He loved tinkering with things and collecting tools.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his step-children: Leslie M. (Schlegel), wife of Kevin Chaundy, Windsor Twp.; and Brett A. Schlegel, husband of Shannon (Vittone) Schlegel, Pittsburgh; four grandchildren: Abigail and Isabella Chaundy and Camden and Cecelia Schlegel. Sam is also survived by his sister: Sandy (Kistler), wife of Neil Fegley, Lancaster; one niece: Angela Johnson and her family; and one nephew: Nathan Fegley and his family.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. John's (Gernant's) Cemetery, Ontelaunee Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Saturday 9:30 to 11:00 am.
