Obituary for Ruth P. Shollenberger (Phillips)
Ruth P. Shollenberger, 98, formerly of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 in Evans Retirement Center, Fleetwood, where she resided. She was the wife of Ralph E. Shollenberger, who died March 31, 1986.
Born in Centre Twp., she was the daughter of the late James W. and Annie (Stein) Phillips. Ruth worked as a school bus driver for the Hamburg Area School District. She was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp. Ruth enjoyed puzzles and card games and was an animal lover. She especially enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by two granddaughters: Jill E. (Shollenberger), wife of Kevin M. Walsh, Nottingham; and Tina S. (Shollenberger), wife of Nevin E. Leiby, Feasterville; and four grandchildren: Jacob S. and Molly I. Walsh; and Ainsley O. and Torsten E. Leiby. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruth was predeceased by her son: R. Gary Shollenberger, companion of Kathy Kenworthy, who died June 15, 2021; three brothers: Martin, Stanley and Paul Phillips; and one sister: Alma (Phillips) Klinger.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring. A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral home Monday 10:00 to 11:00 am.
