Obituary for Robert K. "Bob, Pee Wee" Yoder
Robert K. Yoder, (Bob, Pee Wee), 87, of Hamburg, passed away on August 6, 2021, in Lehigh Valley Hospice Care in Allentown.
Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late James W. and Hettie (Conrad) Yoder.
Bob was the husband of Shirley P. (Reber) Yoder. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on July 13, 2021. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his loving children: Steven, husband of Linda (Zerr) Yoder, Lenhartsville; Michael Yoder; Hamburg; and Jeffrey, husband of Betty (Kunkle) Yoder, Boyertown; three grandsons: Gregory, husband of Adrienne; David, husband of Amy; and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren: Alexis and Zachary. Bob is also survived by sister-in-law: Peggy Yoder; and nine cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers: Norman, Raymond and Richard; and two sisters: Sadie Heckman and Dorothy Long.
Bob was an avid sportsman in baseball and softball. He played on the Brooklyn Dodgers farm team from 1953-1958. Following that, he played on a few local teams. He also played for the Reading Sunners for 19 years and traveled to New Zealand for the World Tournament. He was a member of the Berks Hall of Fame and Old Timer's basketball. Bob loved playing golf and enjoyed working at Perry Golf Course after his retirement from Reading Transportation and New Penn Motors.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in Viewpoint Cemetery, Centre Twp. A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral home Thursday 10:30 to 11:00 am.
