Robert J.W. Kern, Sr., 79, of Perry Twp., passed away in his residence on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Judith A. (Strausser) Kern, who died April 20, 2016.
Born in Coal Twp., Northumberland Co., he was the son of the late Charles W. and Clara (Tomcavage) Kern. Robert was a 1957 graduate of Coal Township High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Robert first worked for Arrow Manufacturing, Shamokin, from the mid-1960s to 1983. He then worked for Carpenter Technology, Reading, from 1984 until his retirement. Robert was a member of Bethany E.C. Church, Leesport. He was a member of the Perry Game Association and the NRA. Robert enjoyed trap shooting in the Car-Tech league, fly fishing, hunting, bowling, camping, and spending time with his great-granddaughter.
Robert is survived by one son: Robert J.W. Kern, Jr., Reinholds; two grandchildren: Amber (Kern), wife of Stephen Rausch; and Robert J.W. Kern, III; and one great-granddaughter: Chloe Rausch.
Services will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 4:30 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will be private in Northumberland Memorial Park.
