Richard J. Hoyer, 86, of Tilden Twp., passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Glembocki) Hoyer. They were married October 17, 1969 and celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Nelson F. and Edna M. (Tobias) Hoyer. He was a US Army Veteran. Richard worked as a truck driver for 60+ years, owning and operating three of his own trucks over the years. He enjoyed NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Philadelphia Phillies. He loved his grandchildren, and his dogs.

Surviving in addition to his wife is five daughters: Tricia A. (Hoyer) Woolley, with whom he resided, Tilden Twp. Vicki L. (Hoyer) Schmehl (Scott), Leesport, LuAnn M. (Hoyer) Wolfe (Mitchell), Robesonia, Betty E. (Hoyer) Sweitzer (Haines), South Carolina, and Gwen M. (Hoyer) Roth (Steven), Oxford, MD; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Sandra (Hoyer) Gehringer (Fred), Fleetwood, and Kathleen (Hoyer) Kerper, Birdsboro. He was predeceased by a son: Richard Brian Hoyer, died March 1957; and his brothers and sisters: Nelson, Leroy, Malcolm, Barbara, Betty, Ella, and Ethel.
