Obituary for Richard D. Hess

Richard D. Hess, 56, of Perry Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2021, in his residence. He was the husband of Wendy M. (Becker) Hess. They were married on October 3, 2008, but have been together for 22 years.

Richard faced a terminal enemy with bravery and courage that invoked admiration and respect from his family and friends. He battled Pancreatic Cancer until the very end, where most would not have even tried to fight. His sense of humor, love and inappropriateness never faltered him. The physical body may have left us, though a piece of this remarkable man will live on in the people he loved. He and his wife Wendy, owned and operated the Virginville Hotel from 2009 to 2017, in addition to owning and operating his own accounting firm, Wenrich Company from 2005 until present. He graduated from Fleetwood Area High School in 1982. Richard was a member of Vaux Lodge No. 406 F&AM, where he served as a trustee; Scottish Rite, and Rajah Shrine. He enjoyed hunting. He had hunted all over the world including, Australia, Africa, and Canada. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Christopher D. Boyer husband of Nicole (Sutton) Boyer, Mohrsville, and Chad A. Boyer husband of Jessica Shober, Charlottesville, VA; a sister: Nancy (Hess) Plucker, widow of Gerald, Blandon; two nephews: Mark, husband of Stephanie Plucker, and Tony, husband of Mary Plucker; and his great-nieces and great-nephews: Austin, Colton, Taylor, Alex, Sydney, and Jeremy. He is also survived by a sister-in-law: Nita Hess, Kutztown. He was predeceased by his parents: Lester A. and Mary E. (Manmiller) Hess; a brother: Lester “Butch” Hess; and a niece: Amy (Hess) Wood.

God looked around His garden and He found an empty place. He then looked down upon this Earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.

Honoring Richard’s wishes there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be sent to: Advantage Home Health & Hospice, 1502 Route 61 HWY S.
