Ray W. Henne, age 95, passed away on March 11, 2023 in his home in Goodman, Mississippi. Born near Bernville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Paul and Edna (LaFollette) Henne.
After high school, Ray joined the Navy and was a World War II veteran. In the years immediately following the war, he and his shipmates took part in nuclear testing exercises at Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Knowing that seaman Henne grew up on a farm, his commanding officer assigned him to care for the farm animals used to test the bombs’ effects.
Ray, and his wife Frances, raised their six children on a dairy farm near Strausstown, Pennsylvania. Upon retiring, they moved to Mississippi. Ray was predeceased by Frances, his wife of 72 years, and his oldest son, Goody Alan Henne.
Ray is survived by his other children - Andrew Henne, Glenn Henne, Jinx Baney, Steven Henne and Jackie Kerr - their spouses, plus numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
