Obituary for Paul M. Foust

Paul M. Foust, 73, of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023.

A lifelong resident of Hamburg, he was born in Reading, PA, to Herbert M. and Louise M. (Yocom) Foust. He was a 1968 graduate of Hamburg High School. Paul was a soldier in the U.S. Army and a proud Vietnam War Veteran. His wartime service was as a strategic microwave repairman in the 42nd Signal Battalion providing telephone, radio and data link communications for the U.S. Military forces in Thailand and Vietnam. After six years of service to his country, he was honorably discharged, having reached the rank of Sergeant.

After he returned from Vietnam, Paul worked at Brush Wellman as a roll grinder for 39 years. During those years, he was a member of the Hamburg Forest Fire Crew and worked as a paramedic at Penn State University. Later in life he worked for Advance Auto delivering automotive parts.

His passion was American military history, so much that he became a part of the reenactment community in the 1970s. He was part of the American Revolutionary, Civil War and W.W. II re-enactment communities. He enjoyed sharing his love for history with future generations through historical reenactments and living history demonstrations.

He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and shooting, loved tinkering in his shop, reading history, and watching the Little League World Series.

Preceded in death by his parents, Paul is survived by his sister Norma J. (Foust) Riegel, wife of Dennis L. Riegel, Fleetwood, PA; daughter Heather J. (Foust) Zetty, wife of Marlon J. Zetty, Montgomery, TX; son Heath A. Foust, husband of Cindy Foust, Huntington, TX; son MacDaniel B. Foust, St. Clair, PA; daughter LaRyssa A. Foust, Williamstown, PA and son Tylar M. Foust, Hamburg, PA.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
