Michael A. Koch, 51, of Hamburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center with his family by his side.
Born in West Reading, he was the son and step-son of Jane L. (Hartranft) and Dennis P. Kramer and son of the late Ernest D. Koch. He was a 1985 graduate of Conrad Weiser High School and graduated from McDonald's University. He worked as a manager for McDonald's in Wolmelsdorf, Arby's in Shillington and on the 5th Street Highway, and Five Guys in Hamburg. He would travel to open various restaurants. Michael was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg where he was a member of the choir. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wolmelsdorf where he had been a member and past president of church council, member of the choir, and volunteered at church dinners. Michael was always active in church and rarely missed a service. He was an Eagles, Penn State, NASCAR, and Sprint Car racing fan. Michael always enjoyed singing, and would sing at weddings. He was a Disney aficionado, and traveled there 15 times. He was able to enjoy one more trip to Disney this past October and performed in the Choir Show at St. John's on last Friday evening. Michael was a friend to many, and made a lot of friends at the Reading Hospital and Rehabilitation.
Surviving in addition to his parents is a cousin: Debra L. wife of Raymond Hook, Wolmelsdorf.
Services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11:00 am from St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 Church Street Hamburg, PA 19526. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 am in the church. Burial will be private in Heidelberg Cemetery.
