Obituary for Michael C. "Mick" Cafurello Jr.

Michael C. Cafurello, Jr., “Mick” passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Twp. He was the husband of Sandra J. (Steckler) Cafurello. They were married December 16, 1978 and celebrated 43 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Michael C. Cafurello, Sr., and Elizabeth (Becker) Cafurello. He graduated from Governor Mifflin High School. Mick was a US Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He worked as a computer systems programmer and Senior Network Analyst for The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, retiring in 2010. He was a member of Mohnton Fish and Game and enjoyed hunting and leather crafting. He enjoyed being with his family and always enjoyed traveling to Disney.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son: Michael C. Cafurello, III, Davenport, FL; two daughters: Jayne E. Oakes, Laureldale, widow of Gerald Tyson; and Jennifer L. Oakes-Cruz, wife of Carlos A. Cruz, Muhlenberg Twp.; a grandson: Jeremy “JJ” Tyson, Orlando, FL; and a sister: Anette (Cafurello) Wilson, wife of Neil, Colorado. He was predeceased by a brother: Andrew Cafurello, and a sister: Betsy Cafurello.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:30 am. For online condolences, please visit www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com
