Obituary for Matthew M. "Matt" Stein
Matthew M. Stein, "Matt", 89, of Muhlenberg Twp., passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021 in Penn State Health St. Joseph. He was the husband of Nita L. (Horst) Stein. They were married on October 18, 1969 and would have celebrated fifty-two years of marriage.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Mabel E. (Werner) Stein. Matt was a U.S. Army veteran 111th Airborne 503 Combat Infantry Battalion during the Korean War. He worked for Reading Body Works and was also a school bus driver for the Wilson School District. Matt owned and operated Matt Stein Photography until his retirement. He was a member of Mohrsville Church of the Brethren. Matt loved woodworking and built his own kitchen cabinets. He enjoyed his time in his woodshop and reading books about various subjects. He loved the family Belgian shepherds. Matt was a very technical person and could take things apart, only to put them back together. He was quite the conversationalist and enjoyed telling stories.
In addition to his wife, Matt is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the youngest and last survivor of eleven siblings.
