Obituary for Matthew S. Brady
Matthew S. Brady, Upper Bern Twp., passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023 in his residence. He was the husband of Debra K. (Long) Brady. They were married on August 22, 1992 and celebrated thirty-one years of marriage.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Thomas R. and Mary Ellen (Knoblauch) Brady. Matt was a 1989 graduate of Hamburg Area High School and attended Mansfield University. He then graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. Matt was a state trooper for twenty-five years; and owned and operated Smokey Bear BBQ catering for sixteen years with his wife. He attended The Bridge Church, Hamburg. Matt enjoyed hunting, watching his kids play sports, and traveling with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Kyle G. Brady, husband of Samantha; Steven P. Brady, husband of Shelby; Makenzie S. Brady; and Daniel T. Brady; two grandchildren: Harper G. Brady and Ava J. Brady; and two brothers: Thomas I. Brady, husband of Kimberly; and Joel R. Brady.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm at The Bridge Church, 3561 Old 22, Hamburg, PA 19526. A visitation with the family will be held in the church on Saturday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Bridge Church at the above address or to Debra K. Brady for Makenzie and Daniel's education fund.
