Obituary for Martin L. Mohn
Martin L. "Marty" Mohn, Jr., 85, of Cumru Twp., passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Margaret E. "Peggy" (Savage) Mohn. They were married June 27, 1964 and celebrated almost 60 years of marriage.
Born in Stonetown, he was the son of the late Martin L. Mohn, Sr., and Dorothy (Knepp) Mohn. He worked for 37 years at CarTech in payroll and systems, until retirement. He was a US Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of Calvary UCC in Reading; where he had a Life of service, and to the Boy Scouts of America, where he served as Scoutmaster for many years. His service earned him the prestigious Silver Beaver award from BSA; and he frequently won the “Old Man of the Mountain” award during summer camp. Marty loved to travel, and made several trips across the USA in the family’s Pace Arrow RV, before ultimately finding a permanent vacation spot in Myrtle Beach, SC. He never met a dog he didn’t like, and although a very private person, he had a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons: John, husband of Kris, Dave husband of Jodi, and Mark, husband of Heather; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three siblings: Dave, Bev, and Leroy. He was predecased by three siblings.
