Obituary for Manuel Rivera
Manuel Rivera, 86, of Shoemakersville, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in the residence of his daughter Anna. He was the husband of Iva F. (Zettlemoyer) Rivera, who died January 1, 2020. They were married on April 10, 1958.
Born in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Raphael Rivera and Cecilia Martinez. Manuel worked for Sun Sweet in Fleetwood, Ontelaunee Orchards, and then for Red Cheek. He loved fishing, collecting hats, gardening, and was always tinkering with things. Manuel especially enjoyed his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Manuel is survived by his daughters: Mary E. (Rivera), wife of Jeff Cirocco, Blandon; Anna M. Rivera, Leesport; and Cheryl S. (Rivera), wife of Greg Gotschall, Shoemakersville; eight grandchildren: Brett Wessner, Nina Cirocco, Jeremy Rivera, Timothy Bryan-Rivera, Joshua Bryan-Rivera, Connor, Logan and Luke Gotschall; three great-grandchildren; and his foster grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son: Manuel D. Rivera, who died in 1958; and a grandson: Devon Rivera. Manuel was a brother to Pedro, Roman, Johnny, Ursula and Bonita; and an uncle to Roman Rivera.
Services will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery, Shoemakersville. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Monday 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Those attending services must wear masks and practice social distancing.
