Obituary for Lila M. Newhard (Arndt)
Lila M. Newhard, 81, of Perry Twp., passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 in Willow Brook, formerly Kutztown Manor. She was the wife of Ronald E. Newhard. They were married on May 28, 1960 and would have celebrated sixty-two years of marriage.
Born in Greenwich Twp., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Lillian (Bailey) Arndt. She was a 1958 graduate of Kutztown High School. Lila worked as a bank teller for M&T Bank, Hamburg. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Kutztown. Lila was a 4-H leader in the Leesport area for thirty-one years. She enjoyed sewing, hoedowning, country music concerts, traveling and attending local fairs. Lila was a life member of the Virginville Grange; a member of the Hamburg Booster Club; and a cheerleading coach.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children: Bryan A. Newhard, Spring Twp.; Sheila M. (Newhard), wife of Michael Bressler, Shoemakersville; three grandsons: Jacob Newhard, Cory Newhard and Isaac Bressler; and one great-granddaughter: Lila Gail. Lila is also survived by a brother: Carl D. Arndt, Kutztown; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister: Marian (Arndt) Turner.
Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in St. John's (Gernant's) Cemetery, Ontelaunee Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Thursday 9:30 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Virginville Grange, P.O.
